Employees choose companies that care: Grammarly is an example
Grammarly celebrates its employees’ work anniversaries by gifting them based on their tenure—the longer the employee stays, the more valuable the gift is. An employee receives a link where they can choose gifts. In the last three months, 131 employees have participated, and 150 items have been sent.
For this campaign, Grammarly wanted to maximize flexibility by giving employees three choices:
-
-
-
-
Branded physical gifts
-
Digital gift cards for retail purchases
-
-
-
For Maramio, this meant designing and executing a highly customized gifting solution:
-
Item selection & branding: we curated items from our catalog and customized them with Grammarly's branding.
-
Redeem page + warehouse combo: Grammarly employees used a custom redeem page to select gifts they liked. Behind the scene, our warehouse managed the logistics, ensuring items were seamlessly shipped to multiple locations. Meanwhile, the company manager had full visibility to track and oversee the process with ease.
The delivery stats were pretty impressive—fast shipments with a high delivery rate. Here’s the breakdown: Germany — 1,5 days; Poland — 3 days; Ukraine — 4 days.
💡 Takeaway to implement: Convince your boss by sharing examples of how prioritizing the celebration and care of employees makes a difference. In today’s competitive job market, employees are more likely to choose a company that genuinely values and supports them.
Employees prefer physical gifts
After three months of the project running live, the data told a compelling story:
These results highlight a simple truth: tangible items leave a lasting impression. And it’s not just an assumption—science supports this. A study published in the Journal of Consumer Research found that people often perceive physical items as more valuable than digital ones due to the sense of psychological ownership they create, fostering a deeper sentimental attachment.
💡 Takeaway to implement: Convince your boss by sharing stats and research that support your gifting program. This will help strengthen your audience’s connection to the company and reinforce your core values.
The favourite items are practical
One size doesn’t fit all, and employees’ preferences reflected this diversity. Here’s what they loved most:
-
-
-
Bags: luggage, travel bags, and backpacks were top picks.
-
Electronics: charging stations, headphones, and speakers ranked highly.
-
All-in-one gift cards for retail purchases: a flexible option.
-
-
💡 Takeaway to implement: Convince your boss with this fact: employees are more likely to use items they choose themselves in their everyday lives, which helps increase brand awareness.
